Note further that it's not possible to accurately show the surface of a sphere on a rectangle. Geometry has it in for us. This map is better than the common and awful Mercator projection, but there's still going to be distortion. Planes seem to cover more distance than they do as they approach the Poles, so they move faster on the map. Looking the figures up, Australia is really thrice the size of Greenland, and Antarctica is only twice the size of Australia. In conclusion, learning is fun!

The video is 72 seconds long and takes place over 24 hours, give or take, which is easily verified by comparing the night's starting and ending positions. That adds up to a neat 20 minutes per a second of the video, or 1 hour per 3 seconds. It takes a plane about two hours to cross most of Europe, or three hours to cross the Sahara, which seems entirely plausible. Is there a problem here?
