i agree with your views on patriotism and nationalism but disagree with what you say about the conservative/liberal rift. the traits that you listed as nationalist are those that you will find in hardcore conservatives. i cant remember the last time that i heard a liberal telling a conservative that he wasnt patriotic because the conservative was pointing out a way that the country was not living up to it's professed values. |
