It is amazing how Buddy's drumming still stands the test of time. I have yet to see any drummer with chops like Buddy. My drum teacher was very good friends with Buddy and I had the fortune (misfortune) to do a drum lesson with Buddy sitting in the room with me. I have never been so scared in my life!

Buddy Rich was a great musician. He was a larger than life character. He was a good man. But above all this he was a sheer genius. He touched the drumming world like no other and, for that, I thank him.

I believe Buddy rich was 61 years old in 1978. That performance could be your granddad. You have got to be kidding me. I would not have believed it.
Respect the man. Or, times being what they are, the remains of the man.

i like the snare/hi-hat/cymbals but not the cardboard (flat) sound of the rest of his kit on this recording. |
