"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." This is the first of a series of short films intended to promote awareness of our endangered Constitution by discussing or illustrating it article by article. I've just begun to learn video editing, and so I expect these films will become more sophisticated as I progress trhough the articles.

Quite possibly Kirk's most hamfisted moment in the history of "Star Trek," and that's saying something!

Capt. Fucking Kirk!

Of course William Shattner is a Canadian... (which means less constitutional freedoms but a better living standard and freedom to be yourself without the government dictating your sex life or your religion as it does in America)

The Federation is a sure thing; after all everyone in America lives spits and breathes the spirit of the Constitution... Why we'll have a fleet of Constitution class cruisers at the ready just as soon as the next generation comes to bear... ahead of Roddenberry's timetable as Kirk's crew is ahead of these shnores.

"We the People" begins the preamble to the Constitution. The Constitution was produced by a "Meeting of the States" which got out of control and became our nation's first and only Consitutional Convention. Several of the states having ratified the Constitution on the condition that other "declartory and restrictive" clause be added, the Bill of Rights was born - #10 of which says, "powers not delegated to the United States...are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Yes, he did consider the UN a good idea, so long as it upheld American values of limited government and freedom for all. He considered local and cultural pride to be just as important as personal freedoms.
